The Bucket Bag

Next to diamonds, I'd argue that a good purse is a girl's best friend. What else holds our entire lives, our on-the-go-life savers, and even some of our deepest, darkest secrets, like a trusty handbag?

And I'm the kind of girl who throws every and then some into her bag, just in case.

Right now, as I'm sure you can tell from some of my recent posts, my Old Navy bucket bag, is in heavy rotation. Yes, yes, it's a trendy, but that's not my favorite thing about it. For being such a compact size, it just holds so much.

And I'm the kind of girl who throws everything and then some -  books, papers, notepads, lip balm, a makeup pouch, wallet, change purse, pencil pouch, snack bar, lotion, hand sanitizer, a bottle of water - into her bag, just in case.

Same Old, Same Old

Boho Button Up Maxi

It's not truly fall until I pull this combo out and wear it endlessly. Something about this shearling vest & hat combo elevate every outfit to boho perfection. See exhibit A, BC or D. Like I said, I wear it endlessly.

"It's a sacrifice I make gladly, because when I get all these things accomplished, you bet I'll be celebrating with a fantastic new outfit."

And these days, it helps to have a go-to combo. I am balancing my last semester of college, work, an internship and preparing to make a major move. As much as I live for a great dress up day or a new addition to my closet, those things are taking precedent.

So, I'm going to have to sacrifice glamour for a bit. But it's a sacrifice I make gladly, because when I get all these things accomplished, you can bet I'll be celebrating with a fantastic new outfit.

Gold Words, Bright Lights

Wall Canvas Art

I'm a sucker gold anything, so it's no surprise that gilded canvas prints hold a special place in my heart and on my walls. Besides the sheer prettiness of these Ankit canvases, their messages have come at just the right time.

A lot has changed in my life in the past few months, from my newly single relationship status to my exciting, yet very scary plans to move to New York after I graduate. I'd be lying if I said it didn't all overwhelm me to the point of tears sometimes.

"As long as I can surround myself with the dreamiest twinkling lights and words to keep me going, I should be just fine."

When I need a break from it all, I turn to a good book. I'm slowly but surely working through my stack. In a mason jar, these vintage lights make a charming bedside lamp for my late night reading.

As long as I can surround myself with the dreamiest twinkling lights and words to keep me going, I should be just fine. No, better than fine – fabulous.

Back To Back

Army Jacket and Slip Dress

Because I'm not fully sold on this fall thing yet, dressing has been sort of an uphill battle for me these days. Until I get settled into the season, I've noticed that there is one thing making my life easier: black. Black dresses to be exact.

"And if there's something I'm trying to figure out, it's what constitutes a fall appropriate outfit. What's the magic formula for fall?"

I've just been wearing them back to back. This little lacy slip dress is an old standby, but layered with a fall parka, it feels more appropriate. And if there's something I'm trying to figure out, it's what constitutes a fall appropriate outfit. What's the magic formula for fall?

Layering? Plaid? Fur? Blanket scarves?  Seriously, tell me. Otherwise, I can't help how many LBD's you all will have to endure.

Collared

Black Collared Dress

It may be my admiration of Wednesday Addams' killer style or my underlying desire to be forever young, but for a long time anything with a Peter Pan collar got me all starry-eyed.

"If there's one thing I love about a black dress, it's that, with some intention, you can make it work for any season."

Clearly, the feeling still lingers. I was able to give this dress some much needed wearing before it got too chilly, but I'm sure with some clever layering, I can pull it back out soon.

If there's one thing I love about a black dress, it's that, with some intention, you can make it work for any season. Where there's a will, there's a way, right?

To The City

70's Inspired Suede Skirt

This weekend I had a realization hit me like a ball to the face. No, it wasn't that these boots are my everything, which they are, and it wasn't even how drastically this faux-suede mini has changed my life, which I assure you, it has.

"I'm currently planning, plotting and scheming, but until I have a  solid plan, I'll be running around the city taking pictures in front of yellow taxi cabs."

Walking through Atlanta, it dawned on me that I really, really needed to move back to New York. It was such an overwhelming moment. It's scary, those moments, because the immediate next thought is, "Well, girl, how are you going to make it happen?"

But, if your dreams don't scare you, they aren't big enough, right? I'm currently planning, plotting and scheming, but until I have a solid plan, I'll be running around the city taking pictures in front of yellow taxi cabs.

Trying It

No matter how much black I wear, I will never convincingly be an "edgy-chic fashion girl." I love colors, patterns, and over-accessorizing far too much. But, I will say this: it sure as hell is fun trying.

"You can't just wear over-the-knee boots, you know what I mean? You have to wear them."

So, say hello to me trying. These boots have been on my lust list since last fall, although it took an attitude boost to feel like I could pull them off. You can't just wear over-the-knee boots, you know what I mean? You have to wear them.

Fall, Officially

Fall Transition Outfit

Before the true chill of fall set in this past weekend, I was able to give my old summer crop top one last hurrah before I packed it up for good. So long sliver of midriff; fall is most definitely here.

"Burgundy, wine, oxblood or whatever the kids are calling it these days, is the unofficial official color of fall."

And, to welcome it, I give you my go-to color combo for this time of year.  Burgundy, wine, oxblood or whatever the kids are calling it these days, is the unofficial official color of fall.  Don't question me on it, because I really don't know why. It just feels right.
