In Transition

If you have the strong urge to start layering everything in your closet right now, just know, I'm there with you. This weekend there was the faintest tease of of fall in the air, so I made a mad dash to my closet and dug out anything layer-worthy.

I've got sweaters, vests and jackets ready to go as soon as the first crunchy leaf falls. Just don't tell my denim cutoffs. As you can see, they're still pleading the case for summer. It would be fair to say I'm a little closet confused right now.

Good Things

In a strange turn of events, I'm actually excited for today, despite the fact that it's the universally dreaded Monday. I start my internship at a magazine here in Atlanta, and I can't help but feel like good things are getting ready to happen.

"Looking through some past posts, it is abundantly clear that I am a little white dress girl, through and through."

Speaking of good things, I was able to squeeze one last LWD into this summer before I have to pack them up for good. I wouldn't have thought it, but looking through some past posts, it is abundantly clear that I am a little white dress gal, through and through. 

So, girlfriends, here's to the good things. Hopefully they're happening now, or getting ready to happen in ways we can't even imagine. All I know is, I'm ready for it, whether it be a great new opportunity or a great new dress.

Flipped & Reversed

I'm in this love/hate relationships with stripes right now. It's really quite the conundrum, but to put it simply, I hate them, because I love them. 

"LET'S BE REAL, A STRIPE IS A STRIPE IS STRIPE, NO MATTER HOW YOU TRY TO FLIP IT AND REVERSE IT." 

Some days I wake up and think, "spice it up, Audrey! Do something weird, fun, different!" And then I throw on a comfy striped t-shirt dress and totally ignore that thought.  

I convince myself I'm breaking the rules by adding lace or denim to the mix, but let's be real, a stripe is a stripe is a stripe, no matter how you try to flip it and reverse it. I wish I knew how to quit them, I just don't know how.

So Long & Farewell

I know, I know,  no one wants to acknowledge that summer is coming to a close less than I, but I can't avoid it, mostly because I start classes today. And nothing announces the end of summer like back-to-school season.

"AS LONG AS I CAN SQUEEZE OUT A COUPLE OF ALL WHITE OUTFITS BEFORE MOODY FALL COLORS TAKE OVER, I SHOULD BE A-OK."

Fortunately, this will be my last back-to-school, so I'm not entirely devastated. And as long as I can squeeze out a couple of all white outfits before moody fall colors take over, I should be A-OK. 

Though, truth be told, I've been known to wear these white jeans well into fall, and now that I think about it, winter too. So, I guess I really don't have to say goodbye.

The Game Changer

By now we all know that Little Black Dresses are a must have -- nothing new there. But, my dear, sweet girlfriends, I am here to tell you that you need a Little Black Dress with some pizzaz, some panache,  some flair.

"...THE MOMENT I SAW IT I KNEW THIS DRESS WAS GOING TO BE A GAME CHANGER FOR ME."

It could've been the scalloped neckline, the open back or they exaggerated flare, but the moment I saw it I knew this dress was going to be a game changer for me. Mostly because it made me feel like the glamorous socialite I am in my head. 

I think all of us gals should have something that makes us feel that way. I don't even care whether you have an occasion to wear it to. Besides, if you really think about it, isn't life the perfect occasion, anyway? My vote is yes.

The Summer Dress

This has to be everybody's favorite summer dress. I swear, I've seen it on at least six different people (blogger girls, included), and it looks great every single time. 

"EITHER WE ALL HAVE REALLY GREAT TASTE, OR THIS DRESS HAS SOME MAGNETIC FORCE THAT WE'RE ALL GETTING SUCKED INTO."

Maybe it's because this dress is just an easy one to slip on, or maybe it's that it's simple enough to style different ways (I belted it here). All I know is it makes me feel instantly pulled together, plus it has pockets, and  I live for a dress with pockets. 

Either we all have really great taste, or this dress has some magnetic force that we're all getting sucked into. I don't know, but I do know that this dress and I will be riding out the last days of summer together.

Breezy Boho Maxi

I don't know what it is, but summer just doesn't feel like summer without one good maxi skirt, especially a patterned one giving all sorts of amazing boho vibes. 

I think it plays into my fantasy of being on a tropical island, toes in the sand, coconut in hand, with the breeze blowing my skirt to and fro in the salty seaside winds. You guys know what I'm talking about right?
