Brightly Decorated Life

If simply looking at something can take your mood from from "bleh" to "you got this, girlfriend," there's got to be some magic in it. That's how I felt when I discovered Evelyn Henson's prints. Her playful, feminine and cheerful prints, journals and mugs are the perfect pick me up for a mid-week slump.

Trouser Talk

Dusty Rose Blush Pants
Let's talk trousers, shall we? I don't mean your dad's flat fronts. I'm talking about the light, feminine styles that are popping up for spring in patterns and solids. Yes, those amazing ones!
I love the ease of a comfy pair like this rosy blush style I bought for my trip west. And hello, they have pockets. Pockets! Insert heart eye emoji here. You'd be surprised how many cute trousers just don't have pockets. It's a tragedy, really.

Back To Cali: Travel Diary

Santa Monica Pier

I'll be honest gals: this week back from L.A. has thrown me for an absolute loop. I think I've just settled back in. That doesn't mean I'm not missing the west coast, though. I'll be lusting over these images all weekend, from my beachside days to the strolls downtown.

Living Doll Los Angeles

Living Doll Los Angeles
There was no way I would leave Cali without paying a visit to one of my favorite quintessential L.A. outfitters -- Living Doll Los Angeles.
The tour included a peek at how their clothes are made (everything is manufactured in house -- made in America, baby!) and a preview of their newest addition -- hand distressed vintage denim. It also included strawberry margs. Safe to say, I love the LDLA girls.
It's easy to love Living Doll's relaxed California looks, because their boho styles have festival season written all over. What I love most is that Living Doll has a range of sizing from S to 3X, so you and all of your friends can channel Coachella style.

Pack Light

Black Skinnies & Knotted Chambray
One thing I don't do when I'm traveling is check a bag -- I've lost luggage that way (and I hate paying extra for luggage). That means when I fly I have to stuff everything into a carry-on. And when I say stuff, I mean I have to hop on the suitcase to close it.
For my L.A. trip, I tried something different. Instead of packing way too many outfits, although I really wanted to, I brought things I could rework. This outfit is a more casual version of this one. Yes, I am an outfit repeater, sue me!
With my chambray knotted, easy d'orsay flats and sparkly arm candy, it had a totally different vibe than the first time I wore this jumpsuit. That, and the fact that there was no way I would run into anyone who'd seen me in the same outfit, of course

Santa Monica Pier

Blazer Vest & Cutoffs

I arrived in L.A. right at the beginning of a heat wave, which meant 90 degree days in March. Mild spring weather right?

When the temperatures start rising, Californians run to the beach. I ran to Santa Monica Pier, a colorful beachside spot that doubles as a cute amusement park. The breeze from the ocean was a godsend that day, as was the fresh fruit from an unexpected fruit stand.

Yes, fresh fruit you can pick out and have cut right in front of you. I didn't even miss my traditional fried fair favorite, funnel cake. California will do that to you, I guess.

Pink On Melrose

Paul Smith Black Jumpsuit
I'll be quick because today is another beautiful day in Los Angeles, and I am so looking forward to a lazy, late breakfast. Needless to say,  I'm enjoying the heck out of the west coast!
Over the weekend I spent some time on the iconic Melrose, and per the demand of my Cali girlfriend, Kaye, I stopped at the famously pink Paul Smith store.
And while my chambray button up tied around this black jumpsuit gives a cool girl vibe, I was anything but as I was snapping tons of pics like a true tourist.

Back To Cali

Oversized Denim & Knotted Maxi
Tomorrow, I'll be on a plane to the West Coast, Los Angeles to be exact. Since my first trip, I think I've gotten more comfortable with the Cali way of life, which, I've gathered, is all about being super relaxed. Like, "I just threw this on" relaxed.
In my head, it's about throwing a trusty oversized chambray over a teeny crop top and knotting something (a split maxi, perhaps) to show a little skin, which is totally fine on the west coast, because, hello, everyone has a tan and is fantastically fit.
